Building Teacher Capacity and Transforming Math Classrooms
I believe building teacher capacity is the way to engage students in mathematically-rich discussions, develop meaningful math tasks, and increase critical thinking skills for all. Teachers and students have great potential for learning mathematics and just need the opportunities and resources to do so. I teach in a small, rural farming community where professional development opportunities are limited. I genuinely wish to attend the NCTM Annual Meeting to deepen my math content knowledge to continue to best meet the needs of all my students, to network with professionals in my lifelong journey to implement best practices, and to increase my understanding of how I might best help build teachers' capacity in my school and region. I am a passionate advocate for helping others think mathematically and believe my purpose is to share my passion and knowledge to build teacher capacity.
