The Mathematics Education Trust (MET) Board of Trustees, based on the recommendation of the Affiliate Services Committee (ASC), awards the Kenneth B. Cummins Grant to an NCTM Partner Affiliate. The purpose of a MET-funded grant is to support efforts of Partner Affiliates to serve mathematics teachers by:
- Building membership and grants revenues;
- Promoting innovative projects that help make NCTM and its Affiliates be more visible to the public and educational partners; or
- Supporting the legislative platform initiatives of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (e.g. the Legislative Platform).
Note: Associate and Student Affiliates are not eligible for the Cummins Grant. However, they are encouraged to contact their state-level Affiliate to explore options for possible collaboration with a Partner Affiliate.
Kenneth B. Cummins Grant ($1500 maximum)
The Kenneth B. Cummins Fund is the result of contributions initially donated by Dr. Cummins and the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Dr. Cummins was an outstanding mathematics educator from Ohio and the award is to be given to an exceptional Affiliate grant proposal. Grant applications are due June 1 and are reviewed in the summer.
