NASA Pi Day Challenge
Each year, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) challenges students to solve some of the same problems NASA scientists and engineers do using pi through their Pi Day Challenge! Each of the challenge problems uses math, science, and engineering to educate students about some of the agency's Earth and space missions. To help students better understand the story, the quantities, and the relationships presented in each challenge, we can start by asking "What do you notice?" and "What do you wonder?" Creative brainstorming through noticing and wondering encourages student participation, engagement, and students' understanding of the task.
