Dr. Jamila Dugan (she/her) is an author, leadership coach and researcher. She is the co-author with Shane Safir, of the Corwin Press Best Seller, Street Data: A Next-Generation Model for Equity, Pedagogy, and School Transformation, focusing on culturally-rich education environments and transformative approaches to learning. She began her career as an early childhood teacher in Washington, D.C successfully supporting the implementation of the International Baccalaureate program in her school. She has served as a coach for teachers and as a school leader, co-developed the first public mandarin immersion middle school in Oakland, CA. She is the founder of JD Learning Partners, specializing in equity-centered leadership development across the education and public service sectors. Jamila holds a doctorate in educational leadership for equity from the University of California, Berkeley; a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from George Mason University; and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fresno State University. Jamila lives in San Diego, CA with her husband and two children.

Kevin Dykema has been an 8th grade math teacher in southwest Michigan for over 25 years.  Kevin is the co-author of Productive Math Struggle. He also conducts many professional development sessions throughout the United States on the use of manipulatives in the math classroom to develop a conceptual understanding of the math.  Kevin served on the Board of Directors for NCTM from 2016-2019 and is currently President-Elect for this school year before becoming President in October 2022.  

He was awarded the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics Regional Director's Award in 2007 for outstanding contribution and leadership in mathematics education as well as the Service Award in 2014 and has served as a regional director for the organization.  He was the annual conference chair for the organization from 2011-2016 as well as co-founded and co-chaired since 2015 for a conference focused on mathematics for students with disabilities.  Kevin was a 2017 state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.  He received an Alumni Achievement Award from Western Michigan University in 2019.

Salandra Grice, M.Ed., is an educator and founder of Conscious Education Consulting, LLC. She is also the Executive Director for Conscious Educators for Equity (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit). She provides dynamic professional development experiences for teachers and schools in culturally inclusive and equity-focused practices. She is also the author of two books The Conscious Educator: Becoming Culturally Responsive Teachers and Schools and her newest release Embrace, Empower, Educate, and Include: Four Principles of Equity for Conscious Educators and Schools. Salandra has also published articles in the Journal of Critical Race Inquiry and other works as well. She is an Associate Editor of The Lighthouse Almanac Journal and is currently obtaining a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in Multicultural Education at Texas A&M University. Salandra has over a decade of classroom experience and her journey as a student, an educator, and a parent have helped shape her approaches in helping educators create high-quality, caring, positive, and equitable school experiences for EVERY student.

Beatrice Moore Luchin has seamlessly integrated her Texas Lifetime Secondary Teacher Certifications in the areas of Mathematics, Spanish and Journalism into her work with various programs to support improved instruction- with a focus on equity and providing support for underrepresented student populations.  She is an award winning mathematics educator, past member of NCTM Board of Directors, a Past-President and current executive Director of the BBA , current member of EFA Math Equity Advisory Board.  Beatrice has authored secondary mathematics textbooks and written several nonfiction and fiction novels.  She is also the author of Pinch-Dash-Done, A Gateway to Flavorful Recipes cookbook which was named to the Houston Chronicle's Top 10 Cookbooks for 2020.   

Dr. Amber Willis is an experienced mathematics teacher and educator with 20 years of experience. She taught middle and high school mathematics in Atlanta GA, and Miami FL. Dr. Willis holds a BS in Mathematics Education from Oakwood University, an MS in Mathematics Education from Nova Southeastern University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies, specializing in Mathematics Education from the University of Michigan. Dr. Willis’ professional agenda focuses on designing and studying practice-based professional learning experiences for pre-service teachers, practicing K-12 mathematics teachers, and teacher educators. Her interests are motivated by a commitment to children and a desire to (re)humanize their experiences in schools. Formally, she was a mathematics research specialist at TeachingWorks. Currently, she is a program director at Deans For Impact. Deans for Impact is a national organization dedicated to ensuring that every child is taught by a well-prepared teacher. Dr. Willis contributes to their mission by leading work with the Learning by Scientific Design Network.
