Students, teachers, and schools lose whenever mathematics is used for political gain and divisiveness. Access to equitable mathematics learning, coupled with rigorous and engaging instruction that is supportive, focuses on understanding, and builds on students' strengths, is and will remain a critical goal for high-quality mathematics teaching and learning and the supporting curricula. NCTM will always stay the course for equity for all students and work collaboratively with our affiliates to advocate against anything that disproportionately distracts from this goal or hurts the most vulnerable populations within our schools.
